History

The Cochran Cemetery, in the southwestern part of Fayette County near the old Armstrong Colony, appears to have been established in 1868 with the burial of A. Cochran, who was born in 1836 and died on February 4 of that year. The small burial ground holds seven graves within a chain-link fence and sits on private land off Sparta Field Road, not visible from the public road. It was documented by researcher Norman C. Krischke, who first recorded it in 1968 and revisited it in 1999.
