History

Sylvester Cemetery serves the town of Sylvester in southeastern Fisher County, laid out in 1903 by the Compere brothers of Abilene on part of the A. J. Ranch and named for railway promotion manager W. W. Sylvester. The rails reached town in 1905 and the population topped 600 by 1909; the cemetery holds graves from the community's earliest years.
