History

Roby Cemetery is the principal burial ground of Fisher County, at the county seat of Roby. Its oldest marker, that of Mable W. Deming, dates to 1884; a year later brothers D. C. and M. L. Roby platted the townsite and set aside the land around her grave as a free public cemetery. Those interred include county pioneers, Civil War veterans, and former slave 'Aunt' Abbie Alborn; the county deeded the grounds to the city in the 1950s, and a cemetery association took over in 1975.
