Constructed of light brown brick, limestone and aluminum in the Modern style featuring aluminum lettering along the top of the central bay, a simple rectilinear entry porch, carved limestone spandrels and vertical window bays.

History

The Floyd County Courthouse in Floydada was completed in 1950, designed by architect Leslie L. Thurmon. It replaced a 1911 Classical Revival courthouse — also a Thurmon design — that burned during repairs in 1949, which had itself succeeded an 1892 frame courthouse by architect J. N. Smith.
