Originally constructed of mottled brown brick with cast stone details in the Renaissance Revival style. Dramatically altered in 1937 by the removal of the third story, hipped roof, decorative dormers and central square open tower with a pyramidal roof. A large arched entryway with canted masonry columns and the original window openings remain.

The Frio County Courthouse in Pearsall was built in 1904 to a Renaissance Revival design by architect Henry T. Phelps. Originally a three-story brick building with a central tower, it lost its slate roof in 1911 and had its third floor and hipped roof removed in the 1930s, with further significant alterations in 1950. The courthouse is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
