History
Known as the Edward T. Austin House, the home at 1502 Market Street had the original portion of its west side built in 1851 by Lorenzo Sherwood, who sold it in 1867 to Judge Edward Tailer Austin (1822-1888); the main structure dates to about 1868. The Texas marker was placed in 1962, and the house later operated as a bed and breakfast.
