History

These graves in southern Garza County preserve one of the county's earliest recorded burials. In 1884 an infant daughter was born to Jim and Della Browning McCommis and died soon after, remembered as the first birth and first death in Garza County, more than two decades before the county was formally organized in 1907 amid C. W. Post's colony-building efforts.
