The Meusebach Creek School served a rural German-settled district in Gillespie County; the present 1930s frame building was the fourth to stand on the site, succeeding an original log cabin. Notably, in the late 1860s the school taught both the children of German immigrants and children of freed slaves, an unusual arrangement for the American South of that era. Consolidated with Fredericksburg ISD in 1954, the building now serves as a community center and was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2005.
