History
The Pioneer Museum in Fredericksburg is a 3.5-acre complex of about ten historic structures interpreting life in Gillespie County. It is owned and operated by the Gillespie County Historical Society, formed in 1934 to preserve the area's German heritage and assemble a collection ahead of Fredericksburg's 1946 centennial. Among its buildings are a one-room schoolhouse, a log cabin, a traditional 'Sunday house,' a bathhouse, a barn, and a smokehouse, with living-history demonstrations held throughout the year.
