History

This memorial in Gonzales's Confederate Square honors the women of the Confederacy and was donated by Captain H. K. Jones and erected by the United Daughters of the Confederacy on June 3, 1937. A sundial was placed before the monument at its dedication. It stands near the earlier Gonzales Confederate Memorial, which has occupied the square since 1909.
