The current Grimes County Courthouse in Anderson, the county's fifth, was completed in 1894 to a design by the Houston firm of F. S. Glover & Company, its central wooden cupola reflecting a restrained Edwardian style. An elaborate Victorian-style exterior double staircase was added in 1910, giving the building an eclectic appearance. It was recorded as a Texas Historical Landmark in 1965 and listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1974, then rededicated in 2002 after a restoration through the Texas Historic Courthouse Preservation Program.
