History

This hilltop burial ground near Bedias is the cemetery of the historic Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church in northern Grimes County. Part of its land came from the estate of D. McAlpine, who deeded ground for an African American church about 1872, and the older church site sits down a fenced lane off the highway near a newer Mt. Pleasant congregation.
