History
This Seguin house is associated with the pioneering Erskine family of Guadalupe County. Virginia-born rancher Michael H. Erskine (1794-1862) acquired the nearby El Capote Ranch on the Guadalupe River southeast of Seguin in 1840 and became a prominent figure in the early Texas cattle industry. Erskine family homes in Seguin were documented by the Historic American Buildings Survey in 1933, and the property was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1970.
