History
The Seguin-Guadalupe County Heritage Museum, founded in 1992 and opened in 1998, is a leading repository for the history of Guadalupe County. It occupies the historic Baenziger Building at 114 North River Street in downtown Seguin, a former grocery store that also contains the old Kempestein Theatre on its second floor. The museum's holdings include Seguin's founding documents and the Leon Studios photographic collection, interpreting the county's past from Indigenous peoples and early Tejanos to the Texas Rangers. Seguin itself was founded in 1838 and named for Texas Revolution hero Juan Seguin.
