History

The house known as Hard Scrabble, at 513 East Nolte Street in Seguin, was home over roughly three decades to four noted Texas Rangers who were also veterans of the Texas Revolution: brothers Henry and Ben McCulloch, Nathaniel Benton, and Elijah V. Dale. Its association with these frontier figures led to a Texas historical marker for the home.
