History

This is the Gentry's Mill Cemetery, serving the vanished community of Gentry's Mill about eight miles northwest of Hamilton. The settlement was named for Frederick Browder Gentry, who settled on Waring Creek in 1875 and operated a grist mill; frontier settler Andrew Miller donated land for the community's church, school, and cemetery. Gentry's Mill had a post office from 1876 to 1895 and a school that survived until 1950, and the cemetery remains among the last traces of the community.
