History
The Jones House stands in the Houston Heights, a planned suburb laid out in 1891 by the Omaha and South Texas Land Company and connected to Houston by an early electric streetcar. During its years as an independent municipality from 1896 to 1918, the Heights filled with the frame houses that define its character today. This dwelling is among those individually listed on the National Register through the 'Historic Resources of Houston Heights' multiple property submission.
