History

The Henry Hicks McCain House stands in the Houston Heights, a suburb platted in 1891 by the Omaha and South Texas Land Company and one of the earliest planned communities in Texas. The Heights grew during its two decades as an independent city, from 1896 until its 1918 annexation by Houston. This house is individually listed on the National Register of Historic Places under the 'Historic Resources of Houston Heights' multiple property submission.
