The Harris County Courthouse of 1910 in downtown Houston is a six-story Classical Revival building, the fifth courthouse to stand on Courthouse Square. It was designed by the Dallas firm Lang & Witchell, the design credited to associate Charles Erwin Barglebaugh, and built of pink Texas granite and buff brick beneath a colonnaded clerestory drum and dome. Its cupola was removed in 1930 and the interior was heavily altered in a 1953 remodeling after the courts moved to a new building, but a roughly $65 million restoration completed in 2011 returned the interior to its original character and added a replacement cupola. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1981 and today houses the Texas Courts of Appeals for the 1st and 14th districts.
