History
This Harris County courthouse in downtown Houston was erected in 1952 at a cost of about $9.5 million, on the block directly south of the historic Courthouse Square. Designed in a plain modern idiom by the firm Finger & Rustay, with Manhattan Construction Company of Texas as contractor, the eight-story building of buff brick, red granite and concrete was part of a mid-century expansion of the county's justice facilities that also saw the 1910 courthouse remodeled and redesignated the Harris County Civil Courts Building.
