History

The San Marcos City Cemetery was founded in 1874 on Ranch Road 12 in San Marcos, Hays County. The San Marcos Cemetery Association organized in 1876 and that year purchased ten acres from Judy Covington Dixon and her husband Shadrach Dixon; the grounds have since grown to roughly 45 acres. It is the resting place of many early Hays County pioneers and veterans.
