History

The Adare Cemetery is a small private family burial ground on the Wenger Ranch near Wimberley, on land once owned by the William Branch Adare family. William Branch Adare came to Texas in 1855, settling first in Fannin County before buying a homesite near San Marcos in 1873; his tombstone here records that he was a Mason for sixty years. The land was set aside by the Adare family for the cemetery, which remains on private property.
