History

Cavazos Cemetery was established in 1878 with the burial of rancher and businessman Sabas Cavazos and has served the Cavazos and related families for well over a century. It lies within the Potrero de Don Sabas Cavazos, part of the old Espiritu Santo Spanish land grant in northern Hidalgo County. The site is recognized by a Texas historical marker as the Sabas Cavazos Cemetery.
