History

Built in stages between 1899 and 1903, this single-track steel through-girder bridge on limestone piers carried the Gulf, Colorado and Santa Fe Railway's Chicago-to-Galveston main line across the Nolan River at Blum. When the line was rerouted in 1952 during construction of Whitney Dam, the railroad transferred the bridge to Hill County for use as a one-lane road bridge. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2012.
