History

Whitharral Cemetery serves the farming town of Whitharral in northern Hockley County, which took shape after the Littlefield ranchlands were opened to farms in 1924 and was named for early settler Dr. Whitfield Harral. As the community grew rapidly in the mid-1920s, gaining a store, gin, garage, and three churches within a year, the Rodgers family donated land for both a school and this cemetery. The burial ground has since accumulated several hundred graves reflecting the town's twentieth-century history.
