History
The Southwest Dairy Museum and Education Center in Sulphur Springs preserves the history of the region's dairy industry and serves as headquarters for the Southwest and Southland Dairy Farmers. The idea arose in 1982 and the roughly 10,000-square-foot, dairy-barn-style building—complete with a five-story silo—followed in 1991. Exhibits trace milk production and processing from the early 20th century onward, including vignettes of rural dairy life before electricity, and the grounds feature two 15-foot cow statues named Buttercup and Creampuff.
