History
Fodice is a farming community in southern Houston County, established after the Civil War a few miles west of Pennington. Local tradition offers two origins for its unusual name: a favorite dice game played by early residents, or the Arkansas town of Fordyce from which some settlers came. John O'Neill was among the first to settle, a Methodist church was founded in 1875, a school opened around 1886, and the community had a post office from 1902 to 1966.
