History

This cemetery serves Latexo, a small farming community in western Houston County that grew up around the International and Great Northern Railroad after the line was built through the area in 1872. The town itself was formally platted just after 1900, when the Louisiana Texas Orchard Company bought some 3,000 surrounding acres and coined the name 'Latexo' as an acronym of the firm. The graveyard holds early residents of that railroad and orchard settlement.
