History
Chartered in 1971, the Heritage Museum of Big Spring preserves the history of Big Spring and West Texas from its home at 510 Scurry Street. Its 13,000 square feet of exhibits cover Texas longhorns, the West Texas oil and refining industry, the Texas & Pacific Railroad, and pioneer medicine, and its collection includes early phonographs and one of the world's largest sets of longhorns, spanning 10 feet 6 inches. The museum also maintains the Potton House, a historic home listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
