History
The Jack County Museum occupies one of the oldest houses in the county, built in 1882 by the Stanley Cooper family from materials freighted by wagon from Jefferson, Texas. In 1907 the home hosted the first boys' 'Corn Club' organized by Tom Marks, Texas's first county extension agent, a forerunner of the state's 4-H program. Acquired by the Jacksboro Chamber of Commerce after the last owner died in 1987, it displays local and military artifacts and includes the 1887 Powell log cabin.
