History
The Old Overland Trail Museum in Fort Davis is housed in the 1883 home and office of Nick Mersfelder, an eccentric photographer and justice of the peace who added a courtroom in 1897 and held court there until 1939, serving as JP for 49 years. It sits on the historic San Antonio-El Paso Road, also called the Southern Overland Trail. Operated by the Fort Davis Historical Society, it displays a restored pioneer kitchen and frontier-era memorabilia donated by pioneer descendants.
