History

This pair of heritage museums sits in Nederland's Tex Ritter Park. The Dutch Windmill Museum, a 40-foot replica of a traditional Dutch windmill, was built in 1969 to honor the immigrants from Holland who settled Nederland in 1898, and its artifacts include mementos of native sons such as Olympic high-jump champion W. F. 'Buddy' Davis and country star Tex Ritter. Adjacent La Maison Acadienne, dedicated in 1976, is a replica Acadian home honoring the area's Cajun settlers.
