History

The Chisholm Trail Outdoor Museum sits on the banks of Lake Pat Cleburne at the site of the former town of Wardville. Its centerpiece is the oldest surviving log courthouse in Texas, built in 1855 by pioneer William O'Neal for about $49 when Wardville was the original county seat. The complex also includes a working blacksmith shop, a stagecoach station, and the Big Bear Native American Museum.
