History

The South Texas Archives and Special Collections is a division of the James C. Jernigan Library at Texas A&M University-Kingsville, preserving documentary materials on the history and natural history of South Texas. Its collections grew from family papers first gathered in 1925 by history professor John E. Conner, though the archives was not formally created until 1981. It became a division of the Jernigan Library in 1995 and relocated to the library's third floor in 2009.
