History

Benjamin Cemetery lies about a mile east of the Knox County courthouse in Benjamin, the small county seat that grew up in the 1880s around rancher Hilory Green Bedford. The town, and by extension its graveyard, took the name of Bedford's son, Benjamin C. Bedford, and Hilory Bedford and his wife Frances Elizabeth are among the family members interred here. Burials reach back to the late nineteenth century, when Benjamin was organized as the seat of Knox County, and the grounds hold well over a hundred marked graves.
