History

La Mota Cemetery lies on the historic La Mota Ranch in La Salle County, one of more than two dozen cattle ranches established across the region during the 1870s. The ranch was operated by trail driver William Burks and his wife Amanda Burks, and the small burial ground served the family and workers of this early South Texas ranching operation.
