History

The Sudan Hotel was built in 1917 on the west side of the old town square as the railroad community of Sudan took shape along the Santa Fe branch line running from Lubbock toward Texico, New Mexico. The hotel was instrumental to the young town's early growth; Sudan incorporated in 1925 with a population of about 600.
