History

Oak Grove Cemetery is a large burial ground on FM 318 at the edge of Yoakum, adjacent to St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. It contains more than 3,500 markers, the oldest for Ida Herder, who died August 4, 1876. It has long served as the principal community cemetery for the Yoakum area of southwestern Lavaca County.
