History
The Giddings Public Library began as a private library opened in 1920 by the Giddings Study Club, first housed in the local post office with donated books circulated for 10 cents a week. The Study Club later sold the library to the City of Giddings for $1, and in 2002 the city moved it into a 19,000-square-foot former grocery building. It holds special collections including the Arnold Smith Native American artifacts and an exhibit on baseball legend Hilton Lee Smith, and hosts the annual Texas Word Wrangler Book Festival.
