History

Known locally as the Liberty octagon house for the several exterior walls and porches that formed its original plan, this residence is associated with Thomas Jefferson Chambers (born in Orange County, Virginia, in 1840), a nephew of General Thomas Jefferson Chambers of the Texas Revolution. The house is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
