History
Joseph Penn Lynch (1810-1860) was born in Kentucky and served the Republic of Texas as a private and captain, taking part in the San Jacinto campaign of 1836. He later settled in the Springfield area of Limestone County, where he died in 1860. The state historical marker commemorating him stands on SH 164 northwest of Groesbeck.
