History

Lindley Cemetery takes its name from the pioneer Lindley family, who settled in Limestone County about four miles north of present-day Mexia around 1846. The family was among the area's early Anglo settlers, tied to the Texas veteran and pioneer Joseph Lindley. The small burial ground remains one of the county's historic family cemeteries near Mexia.
