History

The Slaton Museum, on the historic town square, preserves the heritage of Slaton, a Lubbock County town founded in 1911 as a division point on the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway and named for rancher and banker O. L. Slaton. Its displays evoke early 20th-century life with railroad artifacts, farm equipment, a period kitchen and bedroom, vintage medical and pharmacy instruments, an old jail cell, an early printing press, and school memorabilia.
