History
The Slaton Harvey House is a Mission Revival building erected in 1912 as a Fred Harvey Company 'eating house' along the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway, designed by architect Louis Curtiss. It served diners until 1942 and later became a depot before being boarded up; it was saved from demolition and restored in 2006 by the Slaton Railroad Heritage Association as a museum, event venue, and bed-and-breakfast. One of only six surviving Harvey Houses in Texas, it became the Texas Historical Commission's 40th state historic site in 2024.
