History
The Madison County Museum in Madisonville occupies a downtown building that once housed the U.S. Post Office, the First National Bank of Madisonville, and, earlier, a dance club called the Krazy Kat. Established as a nonprofit commission in 1991, it displays exhibits on cattle, crops, and oil, antique quilts, and local contributions to World War II. Highlights include a cache of arrowheads and stone tools found in a nearby cornfield in 1938 and a display honoring Medal of Honor recipient Truman Kimbro.
