History

The current Martin County Courthouse in Stanton, the county's third, was built in 1975 in a Modern style to a design by Riherd & Huckabee. It replaced a three-story 1908-1909 courthouse designed by Sam P. Herbert; when that building was razed, its dozen columns were reused to form a gazebo on the town square. The county's first courthouse dated to 1886.
