Cosntructed of sandstone, cast stone and sheet metal in the Classical Revival style. The building features full height square pilasters, a simple entablature, a pedimented double-height entry portico supported by Doric columns and a central domed clocktower.

The Mason County Courthouse in Mason was built in 1909-1910 at a cost of $39,786 to designs by Georgia-born architect Edward Columbus Hosford, with the Mutual Construction Company of Louisville, Kentucky constructing it of Fredericksburg granite and rusticated stone. The Classical Revival building has gable-front porticoes on all four sides, each supported by four two-story Doric columns. It is a contributing property in the Mason Historic District, listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1974, and is a Recorded Texas Historic Landmark and State Antiquities Landmark. The courthouse was gutted by an arson fire in February 2021, leaving only the stone exterior, and reopened in 2024 after extensive restoration.
