History

Leifeste Cemetery is a German family graveyard north of the community of Art in Mason County, named for the Leifeste family who were among the earliest settlers of the Willow Creek section around 1854. Fritz and Christopher Leifeste appear among the pioneers who located there before 1860, and the cemetery's earliest burials date to that first decade of German settlement.
