History

The Heart of Texas Country Music Museum in Brady opened on August 5, 2000, after Kitty Wells and her husband Johnny Wright helped break ground in 1998. Run by the roughly 1,000-member Heart of Texas Country Music Association, it represents more than 100 artists with stage costumes by tailors such as Nudie and Nathan Turk, instruments, a Bob Wills wax figure and fiddle, and Jim Reeves's first tour bus, "Big Blue." Admission is free.
