History
The Madison Cooper House at 1801 Austin Avenue in Waco was completed in 1907 to the design of architect Glenn Allen, blending Queen Anne, Romanesque, and Beaux-Arts elements. It was the home of novelist and philanthropist Madison Alexander Cooper Jr., best known for his 1952 novel "Sironia, Texas," one of the longest novels ever published in English. Since 1943 it has served as headquarters of the Cooper Foundation, and it was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1982.
